WANTAGH ALLERGIST JOINS LOCAL ENT GROUP

NEW YORK- Ear, Nose & Throat Associates of New York, P.C., is proud to announce the addition of John E. Rooney, MD, PhD, to their division of Allergy & Immunology.

Dr. Rooney received his MD at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA. He completed his Residency at Barnes Hospital Washington University, St. Louis, MO; and completed his Fellowship in Allergy & Immunology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJ), New Hyde Park, NY.

Dr. Rooney currently teaches fellows in Allergy & Immunology and residents in Internal Medicine at both LIJ and North Shore University Hospitals (NSUH). He has presented numerous lectures at Medicine Grand Rounds at Brusnwick Hospital, South Nassau Communities Hospital and Winthrop University Hospital, and has directed an Internal Medicine morning report at LIJ.

In addition, Dr. Rooney obtained a PhD in molecular genetics and has published several related articles in this field. He has been a featured speaker at research conferences, including the American Society of Human Genetics; the International conference on Molecular Biology and Pathology of Matrix FASEB meetings, and is recognized for developing a novel method for rapidly detecting mutated cells in large segments of DNA. The method would later be used to establish molecular basis for diseases of collagen, the major protein constituent of bone.
